Overview

Child & Family Practitioner - DFV Specialist at The Benevolent Society. This role focuses on providing case management and supports to clients who have experienced domestic violence, family violence, sexual violence, or related trauma. Position located on Dharawal land in Campbelltown area, with additional responsibilities across multiple NSW LGAs as required. Two full-time contract positions to July 2026.

Responsibilities
  • Intake triage and assessment.
  • Provide case management to adults, young people and children to support recovery of mental health for victim-survivors who have experienced domestic violence, family violence, sexual violence and/or child sexual abuse.
  • Engage clients using strengths-based assessment tools to develop, implement, monitor and review their plan and outcomes, identifying strengths and areas of vulnerability and ensuring active client engagement.
  • Facilitate health and wellbeing groups to promote connections and reduce social isolation.
  • Maintain high standards of documentation and client records, including timely and accurate case notes.
  • Conduct regular reviews to assess outcomes and identify barriers.
  • Assess client outcomes using health and wellbeing tools.
  • Work collaboratively with partners across sectors including housing, Centrelink and medical services.
  • Represent the organisation at interagency meetings and events.
  • Work across multiple LGAs including Campbelltown, Liverpool and Fairfield as required.
Skills and Requirements
  • Qualifications in Social Work, Social Science or related discipline.
  • At least 3 years of experience in complex case management, preferably with trauma-related mental health concerns.
  • Experience supporting individuals and/or families affected by domestic violence, family violence, sexual violence or child sexual abuse.
  • Understanding of trauma-informed practice and a goal-focused approach.
  • Clear understanding of child protection issues and mandatory reporting responsibilities.
  • Ability to navigate systems and advocate for better client outcomes.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills; proficient note-taking and record-keeping.
  • Experience with technology and electronic databases.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team; contributes to a positive team culture.
  • Experience with the Safe & Together model is advantageous.
