Specialist Family Violence Practitioner – Crisis & High-Risk Response at Berry Street. The Northern Specialist Family Violence Service (NSFVS) leads the integrated family violence service system in the Northern Metropolitan sub-region. NSFVS provides support to victim survivors of family violence including children, cisgender heterosexual women, and people from the LGBTIQ+ community.
The OpportunityNSFVS provides a range of specialist family violence programs. The service aims to support victim survivors and their children to remain safely within their community and address the emotional and practical needs arising from the violence. We currently have two roles available, based at our Preston office on Wurundjeri Country with a mix of working in the office and working from home.
- Full Time, Permanent role
- Full Time, Fixed term role until 30 June 2027
- $110k pa + Super + Salary packaging up to $15,900 pro rata
- Provide a response to victim survivors at risk including ongoing assessment of family violence risk

The Specialist Family Violence Practitioner - Crisis/Intake Response will respond to incoming calls and referrals from victim survivors and provide secondary consultations to professionals; this role may also include short term case management to victim survivors in crisis accommodation.
About YouOur successful applicant will show commitment to working collaboratively to ensure quality outcomes for Victim Survivors and their children involved in our programs. In addition, they will have:
- A minimum Bachelor level qualification in Social Work or recent employment in the family violence sector or equivalency met through the 7 Equivalency Principles in line with the minimum mandatory qualification requirements. See for further information.
- A comprehensive understanding of the Integrated Family Violence Service System.
- Knowledge of the Family Violence Protection Act 2008 and the Common Risk Assessment Framework, MARAM, and the ability to share this knowledge and model systems advocacy.
- Ability to speak a language in addition to English.
- Previous experience working with victim survivors of family violence.
- Previous experience in family violence risk-assessment and safety planning.
