The Benevolent Society's vision is to build a just society where all Australians can live their best life. For more than 200 years, we have supported people at the margins of society: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians; children, young people, and their families; older people; carers; and people with disability. We are an independent, non-religious service provider supporting people to live life their way.

We are strongly committed to reconciliation with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples of Australia, promoting their economic, political, and social inclusion.

About the role

Our Family Preservation Program works with families expecting a child or with children under 18 to strengthen relationships so children can live safely at home, free from abuse and neglect, and have the best start in life. Our services are voluntary for families at high risk of entering or escalating within the statutory child protection system.

Duties
  • Engage and support families with regular in-home services.
  • Assess family strengths and needs, developing case plans to build resilience and positive relationships.
  • Use evidence-informed practices and partner with other services to support families.
  • Tailor support using a strengths-based approach to meet individual family needs.
Our Benefits

We support people to live their best life, including our employees. A 'best life' is unique and adaptable:

  • Salary Packaging: Package up to $15,900 pa of pre-tax salary for expenses, increasing take-home pay.
  • Work / Life Balance: Flexible arrangements, hybrid work options, and an additional day off each month (12 days/year).
  • Recognition and Rewards: Competitive pay, recognition programs, and long service leave after 5 years.
  • Wellness: Fitness passport, Employee Assistance Program, and additional leave options.
  • Professional Development: Tailored career growth opportunities.
  • Reconciliation Commitment: Up to 2 days paid cultural leave, 10 days unpaid, and opportunities for cultural and professional development.

  • A relevant qualification (diploma or degree).
  • Experience assessing child protection risk.
  • Current driver's license.
  • A holistic, strengths-based approach.
  • Ability to engage with diverse communities, including Aboriginal communities.
  • High motivation, professionalism, integrity, and belief in parental potential.

If you identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, we strongly encourage you to apply. We value cultural knowledge and wisdom and are committed to cultural safety in our workplace.
