An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Graduate or Junior Solicitor to join LawyersAU's dynamic, growing, team in our Melbourne office. This role is perfect for recent graduates with paralegal experience or solicitors with up to 2 years PQE, including those from small generalist practices seeking to specialise in litigation.

You'll gain exposure to diverse matters including commercial disputes, debt recovery, and property law, with the autonomy to manage your own files while receiving mentorship from more experienced lawyers.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage litigation matters from inception to resolution
  • Draft pleadings, affidavits and court documents
  • Handle debt recovery proceedings including demands and negotiations
  • Advise on property disputes and commercial litigation
  • Conduct legal researchand prepare client advice
  • Appear in court and instruct counsel
  • Manage high-volume caseload efficiently

Skills and experience

  • Admitted as a solicitor in Australia or eligible for admission
  • Up to 2 years PQE or substantial paralegal experience
  • Strong legal drafting and communication skills
  • Interest in specialising in litigation and dispute resolution
  • Experience in debt recovery or property law advantageous
  • Excellent time management and attention to detail
  • Ability to work autonomously with sound judgement
  • Client-focused approach with strong relationship skills
