The Opportunity

As the Senior Commercial Settlements Officer in our Customer Services division you will work closely with the Commercial Settlements Manager and Head of Commercial & Development Services on our commercial and development settlements process.

Your primary responsibility will be to accurately manage loans from Letter of Offer stage through to settlement within required time-frames, while providing our borrowers an exceptional customer experience.

You will liaise with solicitors, brokers and borrowers to achieve settlement in the required time frame. More broadly, you will be required to assist with and support the wider department, Business Development Managers, brokers and borrowers with settlement enquiries, lending initiatives and reporting requirements to ensure divisional targets and objective are met.

In addition to the above, you will provide essential support to the Commercial Settlement Manager, assisting in workflow coordination and team management. You will play a key role in knowledge-sharing and staff development, ensuring continuous learning and fostering of a collaborative work environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparation of files for settlement in accordance with La Trobe Financial's policy and procedure, while adhering to all legislative requirements.
  • Ensure documentation received satisfies requirements of outstanding conditions (including construction requirements) prior to settlement.
  • Coordination of training for your team, including providing expert advice to the Commercial and Residential settlements teams.
  • Effectively communicate and liaise with internal and external stakeholders (Brokers, Solicitors, Business Development Managers, Credit Teams and the Progress Payment Team).
  • Competent with the following programs: Loan Closer, Equifax, Valuation Exchange (Valex), Global X.
  • Provide support to the Manager as and when required with people leadership tasks.

About You

You are a highly motivated and numerically minded individual, with the following experience and skills:

  • 5+ years' experience managing and coordinating mortgage settlements involving construction and commercial securities.
  • Strong understanding of the end to end loan process and documentation requirements.
  • Strong mathematical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven people leadership skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail, time management and organisational skills.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills – both verbal and written.
  • Strong decision making and relationship building skills as well as target focused.
  • Ability to work autonomously and within a team.
