Who Are We

The Office of the Valuer-General (OVG) is an independent Office within the department and the Valuer-General is the State's independent authority on property valuations and is responsible for the delivery of fair and equitable statutory valuations for all properties in South Australia – in accordance with the Valuation of Land Act 1971.

Our department's primary objective is the delivery of homes and housing options for South Australians. In response to the national housing crisis, we are committed to accelerating the build of a diverse range of housing options. We strive to find solutions to the urgent demand for housing security.Our mission focuses on coordinating various portfolios related to housing, housing infrastructure, urban development, and planning. The Role

The OVG is currently seeking Registrations of Interest (ROI) for qualified property valuers (including leadership roles).

We have a team of specialised in-house valuation teams across several areas of the business. For further information, refer to page 20-22 of the Year in Review 2024 - https://www.valuergeneral.sa.gov.au/News-and-Publications/year-in-review .

In addition to our primary function, our Office is involved in State-leading property valuation matters, one-off projects, the review and analysis of property values, report writing and providing property advice to other Government agencies. A role within the OVG offers a diverse range of work, giving you the opportunity to get involved in projects that you would not be exposed to in the private sector.

Essential Qualifications And Licences

Qualified as a Valuer and have a current Drivers Licence.

Special Conditions

• Successful applicants may be required to obtain a satisfactory Department of Human Services Criminal History Check or National Police Check prior to employment. A renewal will be required every 3 years.
• Some out of hours and weekend work may be required.
• Some intra/interstate travel may be required.

Variable / Depending on experience.

You will receive an acknowledgement email to confirm receipt of your ROI within two weeks of lodgement. Your ROI will be assessed following the advertisement closing date and the OVG will be in contact with you following that assessment (if you have not provided a Pre-Employment Declaration with your ROI then one will be requested at the next stage).
