Job Description

Step into thisrole and provide technical leadership, subject matter expertise, and strategic insight, while shaping the investigative frameworks and practices that strengthen regulatory effectiveness and safeguard future compliance.

What you'll get to do:

Lead with impact – manage complex and sensitive investigations into potential breaches by employers and principal contractors.

Shape investigative excellence – oversee audits, analytical reviews, and systemic investigations that identify patterns, risks, and compliance issues.

Be the trusted expert – act as a key referral point for escalated cases, applying sound judgment to manage high-stakes matters.

Work at the intersection of law and regulation – collaborate with the Legal team on statutory notices, documentation, and enforcement actions.

Coach and influence – guide compliance field officers and peers, uplifting capability in investigative approaches and regulatory interpretation.

Drive regulatory performance – prepare clear, high-quality reports with findings, analysis, and recommendations that directly inform corrective action and enforcement strategies.

Shape the future – contribute to compliance reform initiatives, risk management, and organisation-wide strategies that enhance regulatory capability.

Be a voice of authority – advise senior leadership on compliance trends, emerging risks, and enforcement strategies—shaping governance and influencing decision-making at the highest level.

Desired Skills and ExperienceWhat you'll bring to the role:

Deep expertise in investigations, audit practices, and regulatory compliance.

Strong ability to make sound, evidence-based decisions in ambiguous or high-stakes environments.

Proven experience leading complex investigations and cross-functional projects.

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels—including senior leadership and external stakeholders.

A forward-looking mindset, with the ability to anticipate emerging risks and recommend strategies that strengthen compliance frameworks.

Your qualifications will ideally include:

  • Tertiary qualification in law, compliance, regulation, or a related field is preferred.
  • Ideally a recognised certification in investigations or regulatory enforcement.
  • A minimum of 8+ years of experience in compliance investigations or audit, preferably within a regulatory, government, or statutory context.
  • Demonstrated expertise in conducting and leading complex investigations with high legal or reputational impact.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory enforcement principles, administrative law, and statutory compliance.
