Connect APAC are delighted to partner with a leader in the Pet Care Industry in their search for a National Account Manager. This organisation are a global player in the Pet Care Industry with a market leading portfolio of brands. Reporting to the National Sales Manager, this role will focus on managing accounts in the wholesale market, NZ market, multi-site operators (MSOs), and independent pet specialty stores (IPS). Additionally, the role will involve new business development to expand market presence. The organisation are seeking a dynamic, results-driven National Key Account Manager with experience in the pet industry to join the team and help shape the future of the brand.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accountability for Results: Deliver monthly KPI's targets for Gross revenue and trade spend to deliver growth through the wholesale channel.
  • Customer Relationship Management: Manage and execute sales strategies for assigned wholesale customers and MSO groups, driving growth, market penetration, and brand advocacy. Manage trade investment with a clear focus on measurable ROI for activations. Build collaborative relationships with category managers and key stakeholders in customer organisations.
  • Sales Strategy Development: Design and implement strategies to drive wholesale sales and achieve revenue targets, identify new market opportunities and foster relationships with MSOs, buying groups, and wholesalers. Build JBPs and direct investment towards growth and excellence in store execution in a multi-tiered distribution chain.
  • New Business Development: Proactively identify and target new MSO, negotiating sustainable trading terms agreements and executing onboarding strategies for sustained sales growth.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with state sales managers to activate and assist store-level promotional programs. Support national promotions and channel activations by collaborating with the National Account team.
  • Marketing and Promotion: Partner with the marketing team to develop and execute promotional campaigns targeted at wholesale customers and MSO groups.
  • Product Expertise: Maintain deep knowledge of the product range and industry trends to effectively communicate value to customers.
  • Reporting & Analysis: Monitor and analyse sales performance utilising internal and external data for key accounts, preparing reports, and present insights to the National Sales Manager.

Key Requirements:

  • Ideally exposure to the Pet Care Industry.
  • Proven track record of delivering multi-year growth ahead of category and to deliver new business through existing and new customers.
  • Proven ability to manage wholesalers, delivering growth through structured JBP's.
  • Demonstrated strong understanding of the 4C's of sales and the 4 P's of marketing and how to leverage them to drive growth at retail level
  • Established relationships and fieldwork experience with key players, retailers, and customers in the pet industry.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, both internally and externally.
  • Proven success of growing brands sustainably in a customer or wholesaler management role with strong entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Demonstrated ability to use data to conceptually sell to customers and grow businesses.
