Lead Administration Officer Emergency Centre | The Wesley Hospital – Permanent Part Time

Location: Auchenflower, just 5 mins from Toowong Shopping Village and 10 mins from Brisbane City

Remuneration: $37.71 p/hr + 12% Super + Not for Profit Salary Packaging (save tax and increase your take home pay)

Your part in The Wesley Hospital team

As the Lead Administration Officer, you'll play a vital role in supporting the team in our Emergency Centre department, providing tailored administrative support and exceptional customer service. You'll facilitate service delivery and administrative support to Medical Officers, Nursing, Allied Health staff and Patients. A key focus is to implement and maintain processes that enable timely and accurate patient admission to the Emergency Departments. This role involves overseeing day-to-day operations and ensuring administrative procedures are followed efficiently. This role is also responsible for the quality of preadmission and admission for patients admitted from the Emergency Centre to the hospital, including Insured, Self-Funded, WorkCover, Third Party and Maternity patients.

This position is rostered on a permanent fortnightly basis, with consistent shifts repeating each cycle. The Emergency Department operates 24/7, so the roster includes mornings, evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays. Rosters consider staff availability and preferences, prioritising work-life balance. Contracted hours may range from 38 to 54 hours per fortnight, depending on requirements. Flexibility to assist with leave coverage is highly regarded.

Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative support to the Emergency Centre and allied departments
  • Coordinate scheduling and appointments for the medical team
  • Ensure timely and accurate patient admissions and preadmission processes
  • Maintain high standards of customer service and communication with patients, families and staff
  • Oversee day-to-day administrative operations and adherence to procedures
  • Support with documentation and records for admitted patients (Insured, Self-Funded, WorkCover, Third Party, Maternity)
Qualifications & Experience
  • Emergency Centre administration experience highly desirable
  • Experience in a medical setting or hospital environment
  • Previous experience in scheduling
  • Experience with SAP is desirable
  • Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills
  • Strong time-management and ability to prioritise workload
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Willingness to obtain required vaccinations in line with infection control requirements
