The RoleComo SC is seeking a highly competent and dedicated Arts teacher who specialises in Design: Photography to introduce students to design theory, history, and practice through a hands-on, design-driven approach. Using Design Thinking, you will guide learners in identifying needs or opportunities, crafting design briefs, and developing concepts through iterative, user-centred processes. Students will explore photography as both an aesthetic and functional medium, shaped by social, cultural, historical, environmental, and economic considerations. This role offers the chance to foster creativity, critical thinking, and innovation in a dynamic learning environment. High proficiency with Adobe Photoshop is desirable to this role.
The successful applicant should have a deep belief that every student is capable of successful learning and exhibit highly effective teaching practices and a willingness to seek constant improvement in their own practice.
The successful applicant will ideally be able to display how they will provide educational opportunities and activities which enable students to achieve to their highest potential. In addition, the ability to engage students using a range of skills, knowledge of effective classroom management strategies and restorative practices will be considered favourably.
The ability to work well with your colleagues as part of a team to develop teaching strategies, resources and approaches to ensure each student can reach their maximum potential should be addressed in your application. A strong record of working in constructive collaboration with a variety of school teams will be highly regarded.
We are looking for teachers who possess rigorous subject knowledge and expertise in delivering Design: Photography to Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) level, and who are able to teach Design Photography to Year 12 General level. An excellent knowledge of the West Australian Curriculum and a capacity to deliver content in an engaging manner are also highly regarded. The ability to teach other subjects within the Arts or the willingness and flexibility to teach within other learning areas will be highly desirable.
The successful applicant should have a growth mindset and be committed to the school's Instructional Model which is based on practices that have a strong evidence base for their effectiveness. It is expected that all teachers will participate in the school's Instructional Coaching program. Skills and knowledge in these areas will be highly regarded.
