About the role

Tourism and Events Queensland (TEQ) is seeking a passionate and experiencedConsumer PR Specialist (Global)to lead and deliver high-impact public relations programs that support our global marketing campaigns and strategy.

Based in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane, this temporary 6-month full-time role offers the opportunity to work closely with internal teams, international representatives, and partners such as Tourism Australia to elevate Queensland's profile as a must-visit destination.

Reporting to the Consumer PR Leader, you'll be responsible for securing standout media coverage across print, broadcast, and digital platforms, supporting global PR initiatives and activities, and building strong relationships with key industry stakeholders. This role is ideal for a communications professional with strong project management skills, tourism industry experience, media expertise and a flair for earned publicity who's ready to make Queensland shine on the global stage.

Job Description
  • Lead and facilitate global PR programs to support TEQ marketing strategy and maximise public relations outcomes.
  • Collaborate with Tourism Australia and TEQ's international teams to coordinate media famils and other publicity opportunities.
  • Develop and pitch media-ready content to secure high-value coverage across print, broadcast, and digital platforms.
  • Work with PR agencies to deliver earned media initiatives aligned with business priorities.
  • Monitor, report, and evaluate PR activity and campaign success, adjusting strategies as needed.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams, international representatives, and key industry stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing PR activity across digital, broadcast, and print platforms aligned to business priorities.
  • Strong project management skills with excellent attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Proven experience managing consumer media and publicity opportunities within the tourism industry.
  • Understanding of media landscapes and consumer needs in TEQ's priority markets, with existing media relationships.
  • Ability to interpret insights and craft tailored content to secure high-value media coverage.
  • Tertiary qualifications in publicity, communications, or journalism, preferably with travel, tourism, or international market experience.
