Your next career opportunity
As the Director of the Sensitive Physical Examinations Program (SPEP) at the University of Melbourne's Medical School, you'll lead a groundbreaking initiative that shapes the clinical skills of future doctors. You'll oversee a team of Clinical Teaching Associates (CTAs) and drive the academic development of this unique program within the Doctor of Medicine (MD) curriculum. This role offers you the chance to innovate in medical education, promote patient-centred care, and contribute to best practices in sensitive physical examinations across healthcare professions.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Lead Program Development: Oversee the academic coordination, strategy, and policy of the SPEP.
- Manage CTA Team: Recruit, train, and support Clinical Teaching Associates, ensuring a sustainable and skilled educator pool.
- Innovate Curriculum: Develop and review teaching materials, aligning with advances in medical knowledge and educational practice.
- Ensure Quality: Implement scholarly approaches to quality assurance and continuous improvement of the program.
- Engage Stakeholders: Liaise with other health professional education programs and organisations to promote and expand the SPEP.
- Conduct Research: Undertake collaborative research projects to advance the field of sensitive physical examination education.
- Teach and Mentor: Participate in teaching and provide academic guidance to CTAs and students.
You may be a great fit if:
You hold a Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners or equivalent qualifications, with expertise in sexual and reproductive health for all genders.
You may also:
- Demonstrate deep understanding of best-practice, patient-centred sensitive physical examinations.
- Show commitment to excellence in teaching medical or health professional students.
- Possess strong leadership skills and ability to build high-functioning teams.
- Have a record of scholarly publications and commitment to ongoing research.
- Hold or be working towards an educational qualification.
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- For Senior Lecturer (Level C): Have a research higher degree, experience in curriculum design, and a strong publication record.
