Leasing Accountant

We are growing fast and looking for a dynamic Leasing Accountant to help manage and maintain relevant financials and commercial leasing arrangements across the organization.
This role is responsible for managing and maintaining the financial aspects of our commercial leasing arrangements across the company. You will be responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, verifying lease terms, and upholding the conditions of lease agreements.
The successful candidate must have exceptional communication skills, with the ability to effectively plan, prioritize, and manage a demanding workload. Role Purpose
- Support the Management Accounting team in completing an accurate and timely month-end close to aid decision-making.
- Analyse monthly results, liaise with stakeholders, identify variances against forecasts, and advise on areas for improvement.
- Assist with preparation of balance sheet reconciliations, including investigation of material reconciling items.
Responsibilities
- Develop and manage budgeting and financial policies for operations and leases, ensuring legal compliance.
- Prepare and present financial reports to management, landlords, boards, and shareholders.
- Analyse financial data, conduct audits related to leases, investments, and risks.
- Review and verify lease terms, rent reviews, options, outgoings, and charges.
- Manage tax filings and advise on tax planning and compliance.
- Examine venue operating costs against lease provisions for validity and compliance.
- Ensure legal compliance and accuracy of financial reports and lease information.
- Assist in rent and outgoing budget formulation, monitoring variances.
- Implement and maintain accounting and internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure accurate reporting.
- Ensure financial statements and reconciliations meet organizational and statutory standards.
- Support strategic financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
What we need from you
- Experience with lease administration software (Lease Eagle preferred but not mandatory).
- Ability to review leases and extract critical landlord/tenant responsibilities.
- Experience in reviewing operating expenses and ad hoc charges.
- Reconciliation skills and ability to resolve finance queries.
- Proficiency in MS Office, especially intermediate Excel skills.
- Strong numeracy, accuracy, and attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Desire to grow with the organization.
- Analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- High motivation, resilience, honesty, integrity, and ability to work in a team.
Experience and background
- Bachelor's degree in finance or related field.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
- Studying towards CA or CPA is preferred.
Salary negotiation: $70k - $90k depending on experience.
