
Manager, Victorian System Resilience

Job title: Manager, Victorian System Resilience & Performance (Permanent). Location: Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne or Adelaide. AEMO is Australia's independent energy system operator and planner. The role leads a team delivering network planning analysis, insights and technical advisory services for the Victorian Declared Shared Network, ensuring the power system remains secure and prepared for the transition to net zero emissions. Applications close Monday 1 September 2025 – 5pm.
Responsibilities- Lead technical services to integrate network assets and system services into Victoria's Declared Shared Network, coordinating projects from Planning through to Delivery.
- Oversee network and system performance monitoring, ensuring operational issues inform Network Planning to strengthen power system resilience.
- Provide expert technical advice to VicGrid and the Victorian Government on the operational shift from thermal generation to high renewable penetration.
- Build and empower a high‑performing team of seven, role modelling AEMO's values, and managing budget, compliance, risk, and workforce planning.
- Establish strong stakeholder relationships and deliver agreed action plans that enhance engagement and support AEMO's strategic goals.
- Work with internal operations and planning teams, VicGrid and industry to deliver strategies and actions needed before major plant closures. Prepare the power system 2–3 years ahead of coal plant closures.
- Education: Appropriate tertiary and/or postgraduate qualifications in a relevant discipline (e.g., engineering).
- Experience & Knowledge: Significant industry experience in power system planning with strong knowledge of power system modelling, analysis, and primary plant design; proven track record leading geographically dispersed teams through transformation; project planning, reporting, and delivery; advanced consulting and communication skills; understanding of the political, legal, and regulatory environment of the energy sector, including AEMO's Victorian jurisdictional roles and obligations.
