Technical Business Analyst (BA) - Amazon Neptune

We're seeking a Technical Business Analyst (BA) with deep technical fluency and strong analytical skills to support data-driven projects leveraging Amazon Neptune (graph database), SQL, and RESTful APIs.

In this role, you'll work closely with data engineers, product managers, architects, and business stakeholders to define and deliver connected data solutions that improve decision-making and customer experience across CommBank.

Key Responsibilities
  • Gather and refine technical and functional requirements for projects involving Amazon Neptune and graph-based data models
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to understand graph structures, Gremlin or SPARQL queries, and database design
  • Use SQL to analyze, profile, and validate relational and graph-integrated datasets
  • Translate business needs into API requirements, and support the design and documentation of RESTful APIs
  • Facilitate workshops with cross-functional teams to define user stories, technical specifications, and data integration flows
  • Contribute to data mapping, data lineage, and system integration documentation
  • Support testing, validation, and defect triage related to data flows and API responses
Key Skills & Experience

Must-Have:

  • 4+ years experience as a Technical BA, Systems Analyst, or Data Analyst in enterprise environments
  • Hands-on experience working with Amazon Neptune or similar graph databases (Neo4j, etc.)
  • Strong working knowledge of SQL for data analysis and validation
  • Familiarity with API documentation tools (Swagger/OpenAPI), and the ability to read and interpret JSON payloads
  • Proven ability to work closely with both technical teams (data engineers, devs) and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience with Agile delivery and JIRA/Confluence

Nice-to-Have:

  • Understanding of Gremlin or SPARQL
  • Background in financial services or highly regulated environments
  • Experience with AWS services (e.g., Lambda, S3, Glue) and data pipeline concepts
  • Exposure to data governance and security frameworks
