Dear future teammate,

We're building something special at Neuroqueer - a support service run by and for neurodivergent and LGBTQIASB+ people. We're here to make sure people like us feel good, feel seen, and feel supported. But we can't do it alone.

If you care deeply about people, know what it's like to navigate systems that weren't built for you, and want your work to actually mean something, we'd love to meet you.

So what's the role?

We're looking for a Peer Support Coach to join our growing team. It's a casual, super flexible role - take on as much or as little as you like as we grow. You'll work 1:1 with people who come to us for support - people who are neurodivergent, queer, disabled, or all of the above, supporting them to build skills, try new things, and feel more confident and connected in the world.

  • Hang out with someone while they practice social or community activities
  • Support someone in becoming more independent with daily tasks
  • Reinforce therapy activities or skill-building goals
  • Help someone get stronger, more mobile, or improve their communication
  • Encourage, celebrate, and support people as they work toward their goals
  • Collaborate with therapists and communicate about challenges or wins
About You

We're looking for someone kind, thoughtful, and dependable - someone who does the right thing even when no one's watching, keeps people safe, and treats them with respect and warmth.

Ideally, You Have
  • Lived experience of neurodivergence and/or being LGBTQIASB+
  • Insight into the communities we serve and the barriers we face
  • A communication style that's thoughtful and respectful
  • A driver licence and access to a reliable, insured car (most travel is local, within 30 minutes, and we reimburse for km's travelled)
  • Some experience in disability support, community work, or a related field (a bonus, not a must)
  • An NDIS Worker Screening Check (or you're happy to get one)
  • The ability to work independently, manage your own time, and check in when needed
What's In It For You
  • Flexible hours that work around your life, energy, and capacity
  • A low-pressure, high-trust environment where pacing yourself, asking for breaks, or saying "I need support" is welcomed
  • An affirming and inclusive culture that centres around lived experience
  • Ongoing training, supervision, and professional development, with options that fit your learning style and interests
  • Creative freedom in how you co-design and deliver support
  • A voice in shaping how we grow. Your ideas and feedback aren't just welcomed, they're deeply valued
  • The chance to make a real difference in people's lives, especially those who've been let down by providers, misunderstood, or left out by other systems

We encourage applications from people with lived experience of neurodivergence, disability, or being LGBTQIASB+, as well as First Nations folks and people from culturally diverse backgrounds.

If this sounds like your kind of thing, we'd love to hear from you.
