About This Job

Position Information

Homebush Boys High School is a comprehensive boy's high school (enrolment of 900 students, including 43 International students and 49 students in Autism support classes), with a proud tradition of strong academic achievement and excellence in the fields of sport, the creative arts and many extracurricular activities. We are highly multicultural in nature with over 92% of students with a language background other than English. We have a focus on maximising student learning outcomes with a continuing commitment to literacy and numeracy. Our school staff is experienced and committed to engaging boys in meaningful learning experiences. We advocate safety, learning and respect in alignment with the values of the Positive Behaviour for Learning program. The school has a strong reputation in the community and continues to build educational networks to further the opportunities for students. We have an Inclusive Education Unit, consisting of 7 Autism support classes. General Selection Criteria
  • Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
  • Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
  • Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
  • Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
  • Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Specific Selection Criteria
  • Approval to teach Industrial Technology – Timber and Technology Mandatory (Stage 4).
  • Demonstrated capacity for strong educational leadership in developing and implementing innovative and differentiated teaching and learning programs to improve learning outcomes for all students, including students from low socio-economic status communities, students with disabilities, gifted and talented students and students from a language background other than English.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and leadership skills to support and supervise staff at faculty level to build a positive and productive team embedding a culture of high expectations.
  • Demonstrated capacity to lead, manage and implement whole school strategic directions, policies and initiatives as part of the school executive team.
Conditions

Successful applicants may be entitled to a Recruitment Bonus of $20,000 (Conditions Apply). The Recruitment Bonus will be paid on a pro rata basis for permanent part-time teachers and executive staff. The maximum recruitment bonus available for a position is $20,000, including any job share arrangements.

A Relocation Support Payment of $5,000 up to $8,000 will be available for eligible applicants.

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

Applicants seeking either permanent full time or permanent part time employment are encouraged to apply for this position. If the recommended applicant is seeking permanent part time employment (FTE from 0.1 to 0.9 inclusive), they will be offered an appointment at their desired FTE.
