Audit Technical Specialist - Manager/Senior Manager

This is an exciting opportunity within our Group Risk and Technical team. You will provide technical specialist support and advice to our engagement teams across Australia and New Zealand. This is a challenging and rewarding role for a self-starter to influence audit quality and risk programs while developing technical and risk management skills in a collaborative team environment.

More about the role
  • Focus on authoring and facilitating learning programs for audit professionals, including annual face-to-face partner and manager training in each office.
  • Influence, lead or participate in programs to improve audit quality, including enhancing our audit methodology and developing tools and templates to assist auditors.
  • Support readiness for new professional standards, including authoring policy changes and preparing communications to raise awareness of changes.
  • Respond to consultations from practitioners regarding application of the audit methodology or general risk matters across Australian and New Zealand practices.
  • Maintain engagement letters, auditor's reports and other templates.
  • Manage annual CaseWare audit methodology and documentation tool updates.
  • Technical review of audit reports, including modifications, emphasis of matters and key audit matters.
  • Support monitoring programs.
About you
  • Detailed knowledge of International Auditing Standards, applied in an Australian and/or New Zealand context.
  • Technical bent with the ability to research standards, interpret and apply auditing and regulatory requirements.
  • Passion for sharing knowledge and educating others, with excellent facilitation skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of dealing with stakeholders virtually or in person to build trust and confidence.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to see the big picture and understand commercial aspects of discussions.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks independently while being a team player.
Requirements
  • CA or CPA qualified
  • 7+ years of audit experience. Experience in a national quality and risk team would be highly valued.
  • Detailed knowledge of International Auditing Standards, applied in an Australian and/or New Zealand context.
  • You may currently be an auditor looking to join a national risk and technical support team or already be part of such a team and want broader exposure with real impact on audit quality.

This position is based at one of William Buck's office locations in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, or Auckland. Flexible work options including hybrid work are available.
