The Role

Join our team as a Gardener - Handyperson and contribute to fostering a positive learning environment. As a key member, you\'ll be instrumental in maintaining the school grounds, ensuring they are safe, tidy, and conducive to a positive environment for both students and staff. From overseeing the turf areas, garden beds and shrubs to managing hard landscaping features like courts and paving, the Gardener Handyperson plays a vital role in creating an inviting and inspiring outdoor space.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the school grounds to ensure they are safe and tidy, including overseeing turf areas, garden beds and shrubs, and managing hard landscaping features such as courts and paving.
• Create and maintain an inviting outdoor space to support a positive learning environment for students and staff.
• Work independently and take pride in maintaining and improving outdoor and indoor spaces.
• Perform general gardening duties, identify and complete jobs proactively and competently, and perform minor maintenance and repair tasks in accordance with Department policies and guidelines.

• Effective communication skills, well-organised, self-motivated and reliable with the ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with staff and external contractors.

Eligibility

• obtain a valid Working With Children Check.
• consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before you start.
• be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
