The Role

At Karratha SHS, Humanities and Social Science(HASS) teachers are expected to build positive relationships with students and work collaboratively with colleagues to enhance academic achievement.

Suitable applicants should demonstrate strong professional knowledge, effective teaching practices, and relevant experience to deliver an engaging and meaningful secondary school HaSS curriculum.

Teaching practices must align with the Whole School Instructional Model, ensuring consistency and effectiveness across all learning areas.

The ability to analyse and apply data, such as National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) and Online Literacy and Numeracy Assessment (OLNA) to inform planning, instruction, and assessment is highly desirable.

Applicants should be dedicated to creating and maintaining a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment, offering meaningful learning opportunities that empower students to reach their full potential.

Strong interpersonal skills are highly regarded, as the role involves close collaboration with students, staff, and the wider school community. Suitable applicants should demonstrate a commitment to professional growth by challenging traditional methods, embracing innovation, and reflecting on their practice to improve outcomes.

Experience teaching Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) Economics is also considered an advantage, although not essential.
