This Position reports to:
Engineering Manager

Your Role and Responsibilities

In this role, you'll serve as a Project Engineer within the Hoisting Project Team, taking technical ownership of electrical aspects of mine winder systems. Your responsibilities will range from independently managing defined engineering tasks to playing a key technical role in large, cross-functional project teams. You'll be responsible for delivering innovative and cost-effective hoisting solutions that meet or exceed contractual, safety, and performance requirements, with a strong emphasis on electrical design integrity, safety and system reliability.

You will be responsible for the electrical engineering of projects involving high-voltage switchgear, drive and converter systems, motor control centres (MCCs), and power distribution for both new installations and upgrade/retrofit projects. Working closely with mechanical, control systems, functional safety systems, and site commissioning teams, you will ensure full system integration, alignment with design standards, and successful delivery through all project stages - from concept to commissioning and handover.

This role requires a solid understanding of mine hoist operational environments, the ability to translate technical requirements into compliant electrical designs, and the confidence to engage directly with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, OEMs, and site teams.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and review electrical system designs for mine winders, including drive systems, MCCs, HV/LV distribution, and protection schemes.
  • Support testing, installation, and commissioning activities with technical expertise.
  • Prepare and maintain project documentation ensuring alignment with contractual obligations.
  • Collaborate across functions, from project management to supply chain, to ensure seamless project execution from start to finish.

Qualifications for the Role
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, with eligibility to attain RPEQ.
  • 2-5 years of experience in engineering design or project execution.
  • Proficiency in standard engineering tools and techniques.
  • Strong understanding of safety and quality.
  • A proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and collaboration.
