About The Role

Due to continued business growth, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Cost Controller to join our team in Lytton, QLD. Reporting directly to the Site Manager, you will play a key role in overseeing the commercial and financial performance of the project. Your focus will be on ensuring cost accuracy, budget control, and effective financial reporting across the entire client account in a complex project environment. This is a permanent full-time position – 38-hour work week.

Role Accountabilities
  • Ensure relevant contracts and jobs are set up fully in our internal financial systems, enabling timely invoicing, cost monitoring and report generation
  • Ensure timesheet (human resources and assets) and invoice accuracy
  • Monitor cost ledgers and reconcile actual invoiced cost data against budgeted cost data
  • Drive client requirements aligned to contract deliverables
  • Realise opportunities to maximise outcomes in accordance with contract conditions
  • Revenue and cost forecasting and risk analysis to anticipate budget variations
  • Continued tracking of project costs aligned to client purchase orders
  • Drive project variation and delay expectations to ensure compliance with internal and external requirements
  • Coordinate End of Month requirements for projects to comply with financial reconciliation and invoicing obligations
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in the cost control function of the project
  • Track submitted invoices to ensure payment is received within contract terms
  • Audit payroll costs and other business expenses to minimise leakage on the project
  • Collaborate with client stakeholders to resolve invoice queries for accurate and timely approvals
  • Prepare accurate and timely project cost reports including weekly, monthly and quarterly updates
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, mentor site personnel and administrators on client requirements to ensure compliance
  • Participate in internal gate reviews for proposals and estimates prior to client submission
  • Ensure accurate equipment utilisation and support the Capex process for new equipment
  • Data input to internal and external systems as required, including timesheet entry for personnel, equipment and third parties
Qualifications and Experience
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in complex project cost control
  • Experience in Construction/Mining/Oil & Gas is advantageous but not essential
  • Experience liaising with internal and external customers
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Confidence to propose system improvements
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise to meet deadlines
  • Experience with office/administration processes and ability to improve procedures
  • Effective communication and influence skills
  • High level of analytical and computing skills
