Financial Accountant – 6 Month Contract (Full-Time)

About the Role

We are looking for a Financial Accountant to join our Finance team on a 6-month temporary contract (with possibility of extension).

Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, you will be responsible for the day-to-day running of Thinxtra's financial operations. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced, innovative environment and is immediately available to start.

Key Responsibilities
  • Daily Financial Operations & Controls
    • Manage accounting, treasury, payroll, and taxation entries.
    • Oversee billing, invoicing, debtors monitoring & collections, accounts payable, and bank reconciliations.
    • Develop and maintain accounting policies and finance procedures.
    • Continuously improve systems, controls, and processes to strengthen governance.
      • Financial Reporting & Compliance
        • Deliver month-end closure, balance sheet reconciliations, GL postings, and management reporting (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow with commentary).
        • Liaise with auditors, tax agents, and regulators (ASIC, ATO) to ensure compliance.
        • Ensure timely and accurate statutory obligations including BAS, GST, FBT, income tax, and financial statements.
          • Business Planning, Analysis & Projects
            • Support budgeting and forecasting cycles.
            • Partner with business leaders on ad-hoc projects and analysis.
            Qualifications
            • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
            • CA/CPA qualified (or working towards).
            • 3+ years of proven experience in financial accounting and reporting.
            • Hands-on experience in payroll processing and BAS preparation.
            • Strong understanding of Australian accounting standards and tax compliance.
            • Advanced Excel and ERP systems skills (Xero experience desirable).
            • Excellent communication skills, strong work ethic, and ability to work collaboratively.
            • Immediately available to commence.
