Vacation Student - Accounting at Evolution Mining offers hands-on financial experience in a leading gold producer, with a focus on operational and cost analysis at the Northparkes site.

Your Role

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with tracking and reporting operational costs within the Finance and Accounting team.
  • Supporting daily and weekly production cost reporting.
  • Reconciling inventory and consumables usage data.
  • Updating cost allocation models for departments and equipment.
  • Assisting with contractor invoice verification and accruals.
  • Participating in site budget tracking and variance analysis.
  • Preparing reports for site management on financial performance.
  • Working under the supervision of a site accountant, aligning tasks with interests in operational finance and mining economics.
About You

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Current enrollment in a Commerce, Business, Economics, or similar degree.
  • Experience with relevant software and systems through studies or placements (preferred).
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills across verbal, written, numerical, and graphical formats.
  • Ability to uphold high work standards and build strong relationships with peers and leaders.
  • Capacity to work independently to meet personal and team goals.
  • A valid manual driver's licence.
  • Willingness to live and work remotely.
Compensation & Benefits
  • 12-week residential program from December to February.
  • Roster: 5 days on/2 days off and 4 days on/3 days off, 8.5-hour workdays.
  • Subsidized housing in a mixed house with a private room at Northparkes.
  • Flights provided at the beginning and end of the program, and for the Christmas break.
  • Fuel reimbursement if traveling by personal car.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) provided.
  • Fast-tracked entry into the graduate program for successful participants.

  • Hands-on experience through on-the-job learning.
  • Ownership of real projects with meaningful impact.
  • Mentorship from experienced technical leaders.
  • Participation in operational and personal development training.
Career Progression

Candidates who successfully complete the vacation program will be fast-tracked into Evolution Mining's graduate program, providing a clear pathway for career advancement within the company.
