About the Role

Are you passionate about making a positive impact on your community? Relationships Australia Queensland (RAQ) is seeking a dedicated Gambling Help Community Educator to join our team based in our Eight Mile Plains venue. This is a part-time role (45 hours a fortnight) with the flexibility to work both in the office and from home.

In this role, you'll utilise a public health approach to promote harm minimisation strategies and increase awareness about gambling-related harm through community engagement and education. You'll work within a harm minimisation framework, providing primary, secondary, and tertiary education interventions to raise awareness about the impacts of gambling and promote safe gambling practices. By building partnerships with key stakeholders and delivering community education programs, you'll play a crucial role in facilitating engagement with RAQ's Gambling Help Services and ensuring clear referral pathways for those in need.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement comprehensive community education and engagement strategies to raise awareness about gambling-related issues and promote harm minimisation practices.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders within industry and community to build partnerships, create effective referral pathways, and ensure alignment with RAQ's statewide approach to gambling help services.
  • Maintain confidentiality and duty of care, including identification and assessment of domestic and family violence, child safety, threat of harm to self or others, and other risk factors; and take appropriate steps as required by organisational policy and procedure.
  • Understand and meet legislative and funding requirements including collecting and recording statistical data in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Organise and facilitate network meetings and events
About You

You will possess excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build collaborative relationships and work effectively in a team environment. You should be proactive and innovative, with a capacity to adapt to change and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. High levels of professionalism, integrity, and accountability are crucial, with a track record of gaining trust through honest and authentic interactions.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver education and awareness programs, as well as an understanding of theoretical frameworks and models of adult education and community development.
  • Demonstrated experience in engaging with various community sectors and ability to build key stakeholder engagement with RAQ.
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles and community engagement/development strategies.
