Gilgandra Shire Council is seeking a Recreation and Activities Coordinator to join the Aged Care & Disability Team.

Position Details
  • Full-time, 35 hours per week
  • Rostered day off every fortnight — an extra 22 days off per year
  • Weekly pay cycle
  • Salary range: $1, $1,938.23 per week
About the Role

This position is responsible for enhancing the well-being of participants in aged care and disability services by designing and delivering person-centred recreational and social activities. This role ensures activities align with individual care plans, promote social inclusion, and are accessible in both facility and home settings. The coordinator leads a team of activities officers, ensuring compliance with relevant standards, fostering participant engagement, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and external partners to enrich the activity offerings.

Salary and conditions will be in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award 2023.

About You

Council is looking for someone who has the following qualities, experience, and/or qualifications:

  • Minimum two years' experience in coordinating or delivering recreational and social activities for individuals in aged care and/or disability services
  • Certificate IV in recreation therapy, community services, aged care, or related field
  • Knowledge of Aged Care Quality Standards and NDIS principles
  • Proven experience in managing, mentoring, and supporting staff in the coordination of activities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to design and implement creative and engaging activities that meet the diverse needs of participants
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Current Class C Driver Licence
