ResponsibilitiesAs a Solution Architect you will play a key role in the technical leadership of Hexagon's solution delivery. You will work with internal stakeholders and customers to provide solution design, delivery documentation and technical guidance on the delivery and implementation of Hexagon's solutions.
You will collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to understand customer needs and ensure that Hexagon's solution design aligns with business and architectural objectives and best practices in IT and software engineering. This role requires a national police clearance.
OBJECTIVES / MAIN ACTIVITIES
- Develop a broad understanding of all Hexagon products, services, and markets, stay abreast of new releases and products, and maintain awareness of changing software systems; act as Hexagon SME.
- Develop end-to-end solution architecture for customer solutions based on this knowledge.
- Lead the design, specification, and selection of high-quality information system solutions for Hexagon customers, considering functionality, data security, integration, infrastructure, business requirements, and performance.
- Deliver solution architecture conceptual designs using standardised frameworks defined by Hexagon.
- Analyze and capture customer and business requirements, and document conceptual and logical solution components.
- Review project documentation to ensure it meets technical standards.
- Identify business/process issues from potential customers and translate them into Hexagon solutions.
- Prepare and deliver concise customer presentations and demonstrations of the software/solution with clarity and confidence.
- Analyze industry and market trends to identify new and potential business capabilities.
- Review, analyze, and evaluate ideas, projects, and opportunities to identify new solutions for projects and software.
- Evaluate and present information to facilitate effective and timely decision-making, summarizing findings and making recommendations.
- Provide high-level effort estimations in support of customer bids and opportunities.
- Provide presales support to other parts of the business as required.
- Share knowledge with other Hexagon teams and contribute to continuous improvement.
- Contribute to ongoing improvements of Architecture and Technology practices and processes at Hexagon; participate in solution peer reviews.
- Provide strategic advice to customers and stakeholders; act as Technical Leader in projects when required.
- Collaborate with the development team to understand capabilities, processes, and solution design; participate in coding or business workflow mapping as required.
- Resolve technical issues across the SDLC; support architectural governance across SDLC and project management frameworks.
- Ensure solutions align with Hexagon's standards and principles; flag and escalate risks and issues as needed.
- Maintain architecture references including principles, policies, standards, roadmaps, frameworks, patterns, and methodologies throughout the presales process.
- Tertiary level education in IT, Computer Science or similar field
- Knowledge of Enterprise Architecture methodologies such as TOGAF or equivalent
- Solid understanding of Service Oriented Architecture and other interface architectures
- Proven professional experience in presales roles (experience providing software demonstrations and responding to RFIs and RFPs)
- Proven track record in software or business architecture
- Understanding of business architecture and how it is supported by technology
- Demonstrated understanding of systems development, project management, and of requirements, design, and testing techniques
- Experience modelling requirements and/or business processes using a variety of tools and techniques
- Experience in selling, architecting, and delivering cloud solutions
- Experience with waterfall and agile methodologies (knowledge of Scaled Agile Framework desirable)
- Experience implementing complex enterprise projects in mission-critical/high-availability environments is desirable
- Experience with (or understanding of) Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) / Mobile Computing or related Hexagon Safety & Infrastructure products is advantageous

- Excellent report writing and presentation skills; ability to document solution options and share knowledge with a consultative approach

- Demonstrable strategic thinking and ability to translate concepts into actions
- Ability to demonstrate complex technical solutions to customers
- Technical skills across .Net, databases, SOA, cloud computing and web frameworks
- Competency with hosting enterprise solutions on cloud platforms, Azure preferred
- Working knowledge of infrastructure including servers, storage, firewalls, load balancers, and routers
- Technical knowledge in programming using current market technologies
- Ability to liaise with third party vendors, consultants, product centres in US, and international teams
