Residential Care Workers are some of the most influential people in a young person's life, providing around-the-clock care to youth in need. If you are looking for a meaningful role—working as part of a team—supporting young people aged 12 to 17 in our care placements, then this is the opportunity for you.

We support adolescents who cannot live with their families and have child protection orders, meaning they need to live in out-of-home care. Your daily tasks can include:

  • Building positive relationships with young people and your fellow team members
  • Following routines developed specifically for each young person's needs
  • Transporting young people to and from school, day programs, and appointments
  • Completing activities and enjoying mealtimes together
  • Assisting in the implementation of programs designed for growth and development
  • Completing summary notes
  • Helping create a safe and homely environment for them to live in and enjoy

About you

To be successful in this role, you will need to meet the following essential criteria:

  • Current Working with Children Check (for paid employment)
  • Current First Aid Certificate (Provide First Aid; Course Code HLTAID003)
  • National Police Check (to be obtained via )
  • International Police Check if you have lived continuously for 12 months or more in another country within the last 10 years
  • A current driver's licence
  • Willingness to participate in a Worker / Carer Exclusion Scheme Check
  • Current NDIS Worker Check (can be obtained via )

The following qualifications are mandatory for this role:

  • Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention, or
  • A recognised relevant qualification (please ask if unsure)

All residential care workers must complete three mandatory units of competency within the first 3 months of employment if not already obtained:

  • CHCMHS007 – Work effectively in trauma-informed care
  • CHCPRT009 – Provide primary residential care
  • CHCCCS009 – Facilitate responsible behaviour
