Residential Youth Worker

Fantastic opportunity to join the state's largest provider of OoHC services. Multiple casual roles available with flexibility to work at different houses located in Doncaster, Mt Evelyn, and Boronia.

About the role: A position in residential care can be as varied as the team you'll work with and the young people in our care, but it's about delivering the best possible therapeutic and restorative care to young people. The role is challenging and varied, offering a chance to continue to learn, grow and contribute to positive outcomes.

Our residential youth workers are passionate, motivated, resilient, supportive and act as role models for the young people while supporting colleagues to provide a safe and nurturing home environment. This requires excellent communication and relationship-building skills, the ability to maintain professional boundaries, and an understanding of how to work therapeutically with young people with complex needs.

• Provide therapeutic and restorative care to young people in residential settings.

• Support colleagues to maintain a safe, nurturing home environment and uphold professional boundaries.

• Communicate effectively with staff, young people, and families to support positive outcomes.

• Multiple casual roles available
• SCHADS Level 3 pay with excellent penalty rates
• Salary packaging available up to $15,900 plus an entertainment card
• Casual roles attract 25% casual loading and excellent shift penalty rates
• Opportunity to take up to 38 hours of shifts per week, with weekday, weekend, day, and active night shifts available
• Flexibility to work at different houses located in Doncaster, Mt Evelyn and Boronia
• Ongoing monthly supervision
• Supported Top Up Training enrolment if required
• Ongoing training opportunities including opportunities to undertake free TCI training

• Knowledge of adolescent and child development and the theories relating to Trauma and attachment as the aftermath of abuse and neglect
• Skills in managing challenging behaviours in a calm and consistent manner, modelling this to staff
• Strong understanding of therapeutic support and crisis intervention
• Experience in and/or understanding of the child protection system
• Ability to work side by side with colleagues, contributing to a strong culture of support and inclusion

• Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention (Residential and Out of Home Care)
• A relevant tertiary qualification such as a Diploma of Community Services and a willingness to undertake top-up training to meet the qualification requirements
