This is a 3-month fixed term, full-time position commencing as soon as possible with possible extension. This position is only available to staff currently employed by the Department of Education.

Delivery of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) services provides support for the Department's educational outcomes by developing initiatives and technical support strategies to ensure all 800 Western Australian public schools can be individual, distinctive and responsive to their local communities while still benefiting from being part of a system. ICT Governance and Planning is the primary entry point to ICT for any new significant effort, project, planning or major change initiative.

The Role

The Telecommunications Officer Voice Data Mobile – Data Focus is responsible for coordinating the provision of data services for the Department and its customers, as well as the inspection and assessment of new and refurbished buildings in schools. This includes the provision of detailed reports for and the impact of relocation on data communications, arranging the cancellation and decommissioning of data services for schools and other departmental site closures.

Our ideal candidate will have sound technical knowledge, including industry standards, best practice and network infrastructure, and experience in providing telecommunications data services in a large, diverse organisation. In addition, having the ability to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders when providing the installation of data services is essential.
