About the company

Our client operates essential rail infrastructure that connects supply chains across Australia, with a strong network across NSW and QLD. With a well-established presence in the Hunter region, they continue to invest in modernising systems, improving asset performance, and driving innovation across their rollingstock operations. Known for their commitment to safety, reliability, and long-term partnerships, the business delivers meaningful projects that contribute to the success of Australia's freight network.

About the role

This is a key role driving reliability across critical rollingstock assets. As the Asset Reliability Lead, you'll take ownership of how asset strategies are developed, maintained and translated into effective maintenance and capital planning. Working closely with teams across Engineering, Maintenance, Operations and Projects, you'll be the go-to expert for the organisation's EAM system, optimising workflows, guiding system use and leading improvement initiatives. This role suits someone who thrives on detail, knows how to turn data into action and enjoys influencing systems and strategy that have real operational impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and review asset class strategies across new and existing rollingstock assets

  • Act as the key user and SME for the enterprise asset management system (Hexagon EAM)

  • Analyse failure data to drive improvements in reliability and inform capital scoping

  • Lead the workflow improvement project within Hexagon EAM and champion system integration opportunities

  • Provide configuration governance to support project delivery and asset readiness

  • Mentor planners and maintenance staff on effective workflow and system use

  • Review and contribute to the maintenance work management standard across the business

  • Work collaboratively across disciplines to lift the maturity and consistency of asset reliability

Skills and Experience:

  • Background in maintenance or reliability engineering, with at least 3 years in a heavy industry environment

  • Strong experience using and configuring CMMS or EAM systems (Hexagon preferred but not essential)

  • Demonstrated understanding of maintenance planning, scheduling, and continuous improvement

  • Comfortable working with both engineering and operational teams to influence outcomes

  • Systems-thinker with excellent communication and documentation skills

  • Root cause analysis or investigation training (RCA, ICAM, etc.) desirable

  • Relevant trade qualification, diploma, or degree

Benefits:

  • Training and development opportunities

  • Employee rewards and recognition program

  • Access to retailer discounts and cashback offers via an employee engagement platform

  • Confidential support through an Employee Assistance Program

  • Flexible and collaborative work culture with long-term stability
