This role puts you at the centre of purchasing for a specialist mining equipment manufacturer, where your technical know how and supplier relationships will directly influence success.
About the Company
Our client is a specialist engineering and manufacturing business providing high-performance fluid power and handling systems for underground mining. Known for their reliable, custom-built solutions, they support major mining operations across NSW and Central Queensland with systems that improve safety, productivity, and efficiency.

About the Role
Based on site in Rutherford, this is not a typical "buyer" role. It's a hands on, end to end purchasing position where your technical understanding of heavy industry and manufacturing will make all the difference. A trade background or strong exposure to technical environments will be highly regarded. You'll be working closely with engineering, production, and suppliers to ensure the right materials, equipment, and services are sourced on time and to the highest standard keeping operations running smoothly and projects on track.
Key Responsibilities
Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to meet quality, cost, and delivery targets
Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure continuity of supply
Monitor market trends to identify cost savings and efficiency opportunities
Oversee procurement processes from requisition to delivery, ensuring compliance with company standards
Collaborate with engineering and production teams to meet project timelines and material requirements
Manage stock levels, lead times, and inventory efficiency
About You
Proven experience in procurement or purchasing within a heavy industry, manufacturing, or mining environment
Trade or technical background highly desirable
Strong commercial acumen with excellent negotiation skills
Confident communicator who can work closely with internal and external stakeholders
Proactive and solutions-focused with strong attention to detail
Familiarity with procurement systems and processes
