As a Community Relations Advisor, your role is to build and maintain strong, respectful relationships with local communities, landholders and key stakeholders. You'll help ensure Powerlink is well positioned to deliver infrastructure projects that bring meaningful benefits, while minimising impacts and incorporating local insights into decision-making.
You'll be responsible for developing and delivering targeted, regionally-focused community relations plans that enhance Powerlink's presence and social licence to operate. This includes identifying and managing risks, supporting project planning and estimates with expert advice, and collaborating across teams to embed best-practice engagement strategies.
As this is a regional based role, you will either already reside in the area, have strong existing knowledge of the local communities, or be willing to relocate or travel regularly. A large part of the role involves working in the field—liaising directly with landholders, stakeholders, and community members—so the ability to travel to nearby regional communities and other project locations is essential.
Your work will also involve stakeholder mapping, developing tailored engagement plans, and helping shape internal standards and procedures that support effective community engagement. You'll represent Powerlink at community events and meetings, including those held outside regular business hours, acting as a trusted local voice and advocate. Most importantly, you'll champion the views of the community within Powerlink to ensure those perspectives are heard and valued in key decisions.
The people you'll join:As part of our Community and Social Performance team, you'll be joining a group of passionate, experienced professionals who are deeply committed to building trust and delivering real outcomes for Queensland communities. Our team brings together a unique mix of skills in stakeholder engagement, social performance, and regional knowledge to support the delivery of major infrastructure projects across the state. We work collaboratively across the business and directly with local communities, landholders and stakeholders to ensure that Powerlink's work is not only technically successful, but also socially responsible and respectful of the people and places we impact.
What you'll bring:To be successful in this role, you'll have a degree in Social Science, Environmental Studies, Communications or a related field, or bring a lesser qualification with significant experience in community relations and social performance.
You'll have a proven ability to build strong relationships and effectively engage with communities, landholders, Traditional Owners and other key stakeholders. Your strong communication and conflict resolution skills will help you navigate sensitive issues and deliver positive outcomes.
Experience working in regional or remote areas is important, along with the ability to develop and implement engagement and communication strategies. An understanding of land access issues and relevant legislation, particularly in the context of linear infrastructure, will also be valuable.
Confidence using data management and records systems is expected, and experience in energy or similar infrastructure sectors is highly regarded. A collaborative mindset and willingness to mentor others will help you thrive as part of our close-knit team.
