We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Designer Womens Footwear to join Kmart's Design team In this role, you will be looking for someone with an eye for trend, innovation, and a passion for creativity to deliver a cohesive product range aligned with the Kmart product aesthetic and quality strategy.

What you'll be doing

As the Senior Designer Womens Footwear, you will work collaboratively with key stakeholders to create and deliver a customer-centric product range. Identify, interpret, and implement global and market trends to grow sales through great-looking products, articulated through effective communication (visual and verbal) and high-level presentation skills.

Create original, commercial, customer-focused, coordinated product ranges including print and pattern/graphic design that best reflect Kmart's 'handwriting' to grow incremental sales. This is executed through strong influencing, collaboration, tasteful aesthetics, and an eye for trend.

Responsibilities will include but not limited to :

Trend forecasting

• Identify, interpret, and implement trends and colour palettes using global trend and market research to add value through design and sales in line with Kmart's handwriting.
• Visually articulate and effectively communicate the direction for the season to stakeholders and direct reports.
• Present trend forecasts effectively, including research to support trends.
• Maintain strong aesthetic taste and have an eye for the next trend that is commercial and can be bought in volume.

Ranging

• Collaborate with and influence the merchandise team to create commercial, customer-focused, coordinated product ranges that best reflect Kmart's handwriting and taste level.
• Effectively present concepts and ranges to key stakeholders with clarity, confidence, and results focus.
• Negotiate commercial product outcomes with the Merchandise team.

Product Development

• Create desirable and affordable products that are in line with Kmart's handwriting and are unique to the external market.
• Understand product materials and construction thoroughly.
• Develop products offshore with Anko sourcing and Direct design.
• Work confidently and autonomously with key stakeholders in merchandise and design, including Direct design.
• Develop commercial products within cost structures that are fit for purpose.
• Create visual presentations to communicate effectively with all stakeholders.
• Create accurate technical specification drawings/production art to deliver desirable samples and a positive customer on-floor experience.
• Brief and provide effective feedback to enable the design team to meet key metrics such as print, pattern, and product.
• Manage workload effectively, planning and prioritising tasks.

To be successful in this role you'll have :

We are looking for an experienced, commercially-minded, and customer-focused Senior Designer with an open, curious, and solution-oriented mindset, passionate about creating amazing products.

As the Senior Designer Womens Footwear, you must have experience in designing for women's footwear, be driven, and able to identify, interpret, and implement trends using global trends and market insights to add value through design and sales in line with Kmart's strategy.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, crafting innovative design concepts that amplify key brand moments in our seasonal calendar.

Please note – all applications must include a portfolio of relevant design work to be considered.

To be successful in this role :

• Tertiary qualification in Fashion Design, Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Textiles, or Footwear and Accessories Design
• 5+ years of designing experience in a fast-paced, large-volume retail environment or with suppliers to DDS
• Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop and Illustrator, and CAD software
• Advanced skills in GBSS, Cebtric, Office suite
• Strong understanding of product materials and construction
• Ability to create precise technical specification drawings
• Adaptability to various product types across merchandise design
• High aesthetic standards in colour, composition, and materials
• Knowledge of print types and limitations in execution
• Experience building relationships with key stakeholders
• Leadership qualities and people management experience
• Ability to work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Strong influencing and presentation skills, capable of selling design concepts visually and verbally
