Join Corrs Chambers Westgarth, Australia's leading independent law firm. We are building a cutting-edge Business Intake team within our Risk & Legal Excellence function, and we're looking for a sharp, collaborative, and forward-thinking Business Intake Advisor to help shape its future.
As a Business Intake Advisor, you'll be at the heart of our client onboarding process—ensuring every new engagement meets our standards for compliance, risk management, and professional excellence. You'll work closely with senior legal professionals, partners, and business services teams to deliver timely, accurate assessments that support the firm's strategic goals.
This role offers the opportunity to influence policy, mentor rising talent, and contribute to cross-functional initiatives that drive innovation across the firm.
Responsibilities- Lead end-to-end business intake checks for new clients and matters, including conflict screening and AML/CTF due diligence
- Advise partners and internal teams on regulatory obligations and escalation pathways
- Mentor and coach junior team members to build consistency and technical expertise
- Collaborate on policy roll-outs, system upgrades, and stakeholder training
- Contribute to pilot programs and strategic projects across the Risk & Legal Excellence function
- Deliver timely, actionable feedback to the Business Intake Manager and senior leadership based on insights from daily operations
- Maintain expert-level knowledge of AML/CTF laws and regulatory guidance (Australia & PNG), conflict of interest rules, and legal professional obligations across relevant jurisdictions
- Conduct complex assessments including KYC/CDD reviews and conflicts analyses to support sound acceptance decisions
- Serve as the go-to technical specialist for junior team members: execute high-volume intake tasks, review outputs, and escalate high-risk matters as needed
- Deliver training and advice to partners, fee earners, and legal assistants, independently or with the Business Intake Manager
You're experienced, detail-oriented, and thrive in a collaborative environment. You bring a strong understanding of AML/CTF regulations (especially in Australia and Papua New Guinea) and you're passionate about building processes that support excellence and integrity. You're also a natural mentor—ready to guide junior colleagues while growing your own leadership skills.
- Experience with AML/CTF, KYC/CDD processes and systems such as Intapp and other compliance risk platforms (e.g., Orbis or World-Check), preferably in an international law firm
- Intapp knowledge and experience is strongly preferred
- Detailed knowledge of AML/CTF requirements, conflicts rules and risks in the legal industry
- A bachelor degree or higher; a recognised AML/Compliance qualification is desirable but not essential
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and related productivity tools
- Demonstrated track record of mentoring or training junior staff in a professional-services environment
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise confidently with partners, lawyers, and business services teams
- Strong problem-solving capability, with a methodical and practical approach
- Highly organised with the ability to manage conflicting priorities and deadlines
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Meticulous attention to detail with commercial awareness and agile problem-solving
- Strong project mindset, adaptable to regulatory changes and firm policy updates
- Team-oriented with a focus on collaboration and a culture of excellence and risk management
