Key Responsibilities
Roster Management: Be the driving force behind creating best practice rosters ensuring safe working hours and wellbeing for Junior Medical Officers (JMOs), ensuring seamless scheduling and staff allocation.
Efficient Payroll Management: Maintain a complete and accurate payroll information file for JMO workforces, enabling smooth transfer to Health Support Services (HSS) for seamless payroll processing.
Recruitment Expertise: Play a critical role in leading and managing the annual JMO recruitment process, collaborating with the Northern Network for Prince of Wales Hospital (POWH), its business units, and secondment sites.
Requirements
Education: Relevant qualifications in administration, human resources, or a related field.
Motivated Self-Starter: Demonstrated ability to take initiative, work independently, and learn quickly.
Team Player: A Leader with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with the Operations Manager, Medical Workforce, and line management of the JMO Unit team members.

The Role
The vision for South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) is 'exceptional care, healthier lives'. SESLHD is committed to enabling our community to be healthy and well, and to providing the best possible compassionate care when people need it.
This position provides leadership of the JMO Unit to support the efficient and effective Operation of the Medical Workforce - JMO Unit in Roster, Payroll and Recruitment and reports up to the Operations Manager - Medical Workforce. Working together with the Medical Education unit, the JMO Manager will provide support to JMO's as per HETI framework and College training accreditation requirements. They will also ensure that JMO Wellbeing is paramount and fostered in line with the NSW Health JMO Support plan.
There are three major functions and responsibilities of this role including:
- operational management and allocation of junior medical staff across clinical services to ensure provision of high quality patient care
- cost effective, fair and equitable rostering for all Junior Medical Workforce in compliance with awards and industrial instruments, including best rostering practices
- management of the JMO recruitment and onboarding processes ensuring compliance with MOH and SESLHD policies and procedures and orientation for all junior medical officers
The Medical Workforce - Junior Medical Officer (JMO) Unit is responsible for the management of Junior Medical Workforce across the sector and undertakes all aspects of human resource management, financial management and general administration including medical staff information management, budget management and other responsibilities as delegated.

Selection Criteria
To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the below questions as thoroughly as possible.
- Demonstrated experience in administrative management of medical staff including an ability to manage rosters, payroll, leave, and interpret awards, agreements, employment legislation and JMO Well Being. Knowledge of relevant NSW Health Medical Officer's awards and JMO Wellbeing strategies would be advantageous.
- Demonstrated ability in managing staff and / or resources to produce optimal outcomes and demonstrated project management experience.
- Excellent organisational, consultative and communication skills and the ability to work with a high degree of autonomy and meet strict deadlines
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of medical staff structures within a public hospital with the ability to liaise with a diverse range of people whilst maintaining confidentiality and exercising discretion.
- Proven ability to work independently in a high volume environment, with competing priorities, requiring high level analytical skills and high level of attention to detail.
- Superior skills and experience in conflict resolution, negotiation and problem solving with a demonstrated ability to establish sound working relationships/rapport with senior staff (including but not limited to Medical and Managerial) with an ability to quickly and accurately identify and escalate significant issues as they arise.
- Experience in human resources management, such as industrial relations, recruitment, performance management or change management experience.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Internet, e-mail technology and MS Office applications and experience in the use of electronic systems involving applications and approvals including the ability to develop, implement and manage systems and databases to ensure recording and tracking of high level issues as well as the ability to participate in the preparation and maintenance of complex rostering systems.
