THE POSITIONS... Reporting to the Group Manager of People & Culture these positions will be working within a collaborative team and will be structured as follows;

Full time Senior Payroll Officer - Position overseeing the end-to-end payroll on a daily basis- requires someone who is at a high level of payroll knowledge and understanding including strong award interpretation experience and provision of payroll support and queries to management, reporting and process improvement.

Part time Payroll Officer - This position will be approximately 20 hours per week with flexible and negotiable working hours to support the Senior Payroll Officer with high volume processing, provision of payroll administrative support and back up payroll end to end processing.

This company is in the process of new payroll system implementation. It would be highly advantageous to have applicants who are familiar with the process of a payroll system upgrades and a natural ability and aptitude for process development and improvement.

THE DAY TO DAY...

  • End to End processing of fortnightly payroll and any interim pays
  • Employee set up and maintenance in Payroll system aligned with cost centres
  • Reconcile payroll reports prior to finalising payroll process
  • Calculate and prepare manual payments, including termination, adjustments and redundancy pays where necessary
  • Provide a high level of customer service to all employees' telephone and email queries ensuring a satisfactory resolution
  • Liaise with Management regarding contracts including rates of pay, allowances, deductions and ensuring other Payroll information is up to date and accurate.
  • Reconciliation/administration of employee loans or other deductions, Superannuation and Payroll Tax
  • End of month and end of year processing including fortnightly and monthly reporting on employee overtime, wages, staff changes
  • Reconciling general ledger with payroll transactions
  • Ensuring that the payroll system has up to date ATO tax table for PAYG
  • Ensure all Modern Award Payroll requirements are compliant
  • Conducting audits of all payroll records
  • Generate routine and ad hoc statistical reports as required by internal management and external stakeholders.
  • Assist and support with review of existing systems and develop improved procedures, and documents
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR...
These positions are suitable for experienced payroll professionals who have processed end to end payroll at high volumes. We are looking for a can-do attitude, initiative to improve processes, strong computer aptitude and outstanding communication skills.

THE IDEAL PERSON:
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a large payroll environment (more than 400 employees)
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of computerised roster systems
  • Extensive knowledge of end-to-end payroll processes and procedures in a high-volume environment
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current Legislation as it applies to payroll
  • Working knowledge of Employment Contracts, Individual Flexibility Arrangements and Modern Awards
  • Ability to communicate and liaise with all stakeholders of the organisation at any level
  • High level of computer literacy, including Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook
  • Ability to take responsibility and work autonomously for allocated tasks and complete them with minimum supervision
  • Adaptability and flexibility, and the ability to work in a team environment
  • Understanding of the various awards and ability to interpret award
