Altus Traffic currently has an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated and energic Payroll Officer based in Macquarie Park. Providing accurate and effective processing of the payroll function, this fast-paced role requires an experienced and dynamic person who has a strong foundation of processing all aspects of the payroll function, including wages, PAYG, union fees, payroll tax, WorkCover, child support, long service leave, income and severance and superannuation.

This role will be responsible for ensuring the accurate processing of the company's high volume, weekly, timesheet-based payroll within strict timeframes, but also be a self-motivated team player as a part of the wider finance team.

Processing all aspects of the payroll function, including wages, PAYG, union fees, payroll tax, WorkCover, child support, long service leave, income and severance and superannuation

  • Entry/Upload of payroll information into accounting software, and reconciliation
  • Record keeping
  • Payroll queries, adjustments and Terminations
  • Month-end reporting
  • Database maintenance and update
  • The ability to adapt to a fast paced and changing environment
  • Work actively in the team to enhance team performance
  • Maintain strong key relationships with the Staff Engagement teams
  • Monitor and ensure that quality standards are met
  • Identifying problems and improvements in processes and procedures
  • Recording and taking action to problem solve and make improvements, and informing others as required
Skills & Experience
  • Technical and practical skills in payroll management
  • Minimum 3-5 years payroll experience
  • Exposure to hire volume labor hire and/or a casual workforce
  • High level of computer literacy, MS Office programs and accounts payable systems
  • Systems experience with Attache - highly desirable
  • Experience in the payroll function in multi-site operations
  • Understanding of tax law and taxing legislation
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with a customer service focus
