Applications are invited for the full-time ongoing position of Community Engagement Coordinator to join the Electorate Office of the Hon Amanda Rishworth MP. The role will be based in the Member's Electorate Office, 232 Main South Road, Morphett Vale, South Australia.

Electorate officers act as their Parliamentarian's day-to-day representative with constituents and enables the Member of Parliament to fulfil their duties as elected representatives. Their role involves engaging with their electorate / duty electorate through providing high-level constituency support, community outreach and local event management for their Parliamentarian.

KEY OBJECTIVE

To assist the Member for Kingston to provide support and assistance to local constituents, community organisations and businesses with a range of issues within the electorate. This will include tasks such as managing community engagement and outreach, assisting constituents, constituent correspondence, managing regular events, managing office administration and operations and providing input to stakeholder and community activities.

KEY DUTIES

  • Assist with community engagement and stakeholder outreach including meeting preparation, briefing the Member of Parliament, event logistics and attendance.
  • Respond to enquiries from constituents, community organisations and businesses on behalf of the Parliamentarian, including liaising and connecting with government agencies to resolve issues.
  • Respond to constituent walk-ins and answering constituent phone calls and emails.
  • Provide the Member of Parliament with strategic and timely advice on experiences and issues that are impacting the electorate or have the potential to.
  • Provide input and management of promotional and communication materials, including for social and traditional media.
  • Writing speeches and parliamentary electorate statements
  • Manage and coordinate community grants programs.
  • Manage and coordinate regular electorate events
  • Assist with a range of office administrative tasks, including data entry and database management.
  • Travel to Canberra may be required.
  • Perform other duties as required.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

An understanding of local issues, government services, the Government's agenda, and the broader political landscape, or an ability to rapidly learn.High-level written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively engage with a broad and diverse range of people across a range of channels.Strong administrative, office IT and or an ability to rapidly learn.Ability to multitask, prioritise and exercise a high-level of accountability, initiative and problem-solving skills.An ability to work cooperatively to achieve strategic objectives.Demonstrated professional integrity and the ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality.Ability to work effectively and liaise with constituents and community organisations.Demonstrated experience in working in a dynamic environment as part of a team.Working knowledge of the political process and the Australian parliamentary and political system.Demonstrated capacity for applying analytical and problem-solving skills in developing solutions for complex issues.Proven reliability in meeting deadlines and commitments especially in high pressure situations.

Employment conditions :

The position is offered under the Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984 and conditions are outlined in the Commonwealth Members of Parliament Staff Enterprise Agreement which include :

A commencing salary between $76910 and $89793 will be negotiated depending on experience and relevant skills.An additional optional Electorate Staff Allowance may be considered in recognition of, and compensation for, reasonable additional hours of work.An employer superannuation contribution of 15.49% will be payable.

An initial probationary period of three months will apply and may be subject to extension.The successful applicant may be required to undergo a National Police History Check.Staff may be subject to automatic cessation triggers in accordance with Section 14 of the MOP(S) Act.The successful applicant will be required to comply with their obligations under the Behaviour Codes and Standards.It is a condition of employment that you obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting Level 2 security clearance and comply with Ministerial Staff Code of ConductIf the successful applicant is an Australian Labor Party member, they will be required to comply with the Australian Labor Party Code of Conduct.
