Key Outcomes and Accountabilities

  • Provide leadership, training, and mentoring to team members, ensuring ongoing compliance with the Building Code of Australia, Australian Standards, and QBCC policies and procedures.
  • Assist in approving scopes for rectification of defective and incomplete residential construction work, oversee payments to contractors, and provide evidence in tribunals and courts regarding decisions and claims.
  • Contribute to the development, implementation, and review of policies, procedures, and systems.
  • Manage a caseload, conduct investigations, and prepare detailed reports on complaints related to defective building work.
  • Administer the QBCC Act 1991, including disciplinary actions against building practitioners, and interpret the Building Act 1975, Building Code of Australia, and Australian Standards.
  • Prepare reports and statements for disciplinary proceedings and testify in tribunals and courts.
  • Support the development and review of dispute resolution policies, procedures, and systems.

Candidate Attributes

  • Hold or be eligible for a Builder's License from QBCC in Queensland (mandatory).
  • Possess a current Driver's License with a good driving record; ability to travel frequently across the State (mandatory).
  • Apply contemporary building standards, practices, legislation, and codes within the construction industry, with demonstrated supervisory ability.
  • Exhibit high-level interpersonal, consultative, negotiation, and mediation skills, along with investigative, analytical, and problem-solving abilities, especially in technical environments.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management skills.
