
Mental Health Support Officer

As a Mental Health Support Officer, you are a critical member of a new multidisciplinary team providing mental health services in the Centre. This busy role will provide you with on-the-job training, exposure and experience that will broaden your knowledge unlike any other. Every day you will undertake administration and co-ordination functions that enable the delivery of mental health, well-being and welfare support services to adults accommodated in the Centre. Your excellent interpersonal and engagement skills will be used daily as you collaborate and connect with other operational teams in the centre to support your team and the mental health care for those in custody.
Responsibilities- Triaging welfare support requests aimed to improve mental health and wellbeing
- Receiving, responding to and co-ordinating responses for service from those in custody and other stakeholders
- Working closely and providing support to health professionals within a multidisciplinary team which delivers mental health treatment, therapeutic interventions and group activities
- Establishing effective working relationships with internal stakeholders, other government departments and external service providers to support the welfare and psychosocial needs of individuals
- Monitoring service delivery and assisting with reporting and data analysis, maintaining accurate records and other related administrative duties
