As a team, we're lucky to do both for a living – and we want you to be part of where we go next. Helping our teammates soar is what we're all about. With a new fleet of state-of-the-art aircraft and new routes being added, the sky's the limit.

Takeoff with your next opportunity

As a Customer Data Engineer, you will be a crucial member of our Data Team, contributing to the enhancement of our customer experience, analytics, and BI capabilities. Your primary responsibility will be to enable the identification, availability, governance, and standardization of customer data touchpoints within Jetstar's Cloud Data Platform. This involves modeling data to connect disparate customer data sources with various touchpoints, spanning from digital endpoints to pre- and post-flight customer experiences and tracking. Your work contributes to Jetstar's vision of democratizing data within the organization and enhancing our data-driven experiences.

You will act as the subject matter expert to support the development and maintenance of our Customer Data Platform, which is crucial to our data strategy. By linking the Data & Analytics team with vital business domains such as Customer, Marketing, and Sales, you will help facilitate the development of tailored, data-powered solutions that transform our customer interactions.

In today's data-driven landscape, you are the expert who understands our data ecosystem intimately. You have extensive expertise in data management, including ETL processes and SQL. You will use your knowledge to transform data capabilities into business value by enriching our customer experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Own the design and development of data warehouse pipelines, managing data transformation processes to consolidate customer information from various source systems for reporting, marketing technology, and personalization.
  2. Collaborate with Commercial, Data & Analytics, and Business teams to design and develop data applications, models, and data marts, focusing on enhancing business users' self-service capabilities and driving effective change management.
  3. Gather requirements from various data sources to meet business needs and secure necessary data points. Develop and oversee robust data pipelines, ensuring proper processing and storage of customer data.
  4. Drive the development, maintenance, and enhancement of a Single Customer Identity solution, including aggregation, enrichment, and accurate linking of customer data from various touchpoints to provide a comprehensive, unified customer model.
  5. Support other data and analytics teams, such as Data Science, to uplift predictive capabilities and AI/ML initiatives.
  6. Assist in maintaining high data quality by collecting, validating, and ensuring data compliance. Conduct User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for new builds. Collaborate with IT and Ops to establish integration endpoints, create proofs-of-concept (POC), and recommend data flow and system integration solutions.

Technical Requirements:

  1. Advanced SQL skills for querying and manipulating data.
  2. Experience with cloud-based data platforms (Snowflake, AWS, Azure, GCP) and ability to leverage cloud-specific features effectively.
  3. Strong understanding of data modeling principles, with experience designing data structures for analytics, marketing, and data warehousing.
  4. Ability to use Python, JavaScript, or similar scripting languages for automating tasks and workflows.
  5. Experience with diverse customer data sets, including membership, loyalty, bookings, point of sale, digital interactions, and surveys.
  6. Prior experience with Customer Data Platforms or customer identity solutions is highly advantageous.
  7. Knowledge of Marketing Automation tools, Salesforce CRM, and advertising platforms for seamless data integration is preferred.
  8. Experience with integrations and data movement patterns, including APIs, data cleanrooms, SFTP, etc., is highly advantageous.
