JBS Carriers, the transportation arm of JBS Australia, supports JBS operations through an efficient logistical structure that optimizes everything including the selection of cattle at supplying units to the distribution of products throughout Australia.

JBS Carriers adopts methods aimed at guaranteeing the safety and preservation of cattle quality during transport and preserving the characteristics of end products at the moment of distribution, transporting each of the products of our mix in modern vehicles that provide adequate temperature conditions. JBS Carriers also develops cost control and economy-of-scale mechanisms to optimize operational efficiencies.

About the Role

Based at Riverview and reporting to General Manager, JBS Carriers team currently recruiting a pragmatic and experienced Financial Controller to join our senior leadership team.

Serving as a business partner to the Management team, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing support on all matters relating to performance and financial processes
  • Reviewing, collecting and recording data for preparation of timely and accurate weekly/monthly results/reports
  • Reviewing and preparing journals and general ledger reconciliations
  • Reviewing and preparing month-end reports including analysis of operating costs
  • Reviewing and preparing the site budget annually
  • Liaising with Senior Management and managing queries
  • Analysing standard to actual cost variances
  • Identifying challenges and opportunities and recommending corrective action as indicated by performance to meet cost performance targets
  • Interim and annual external audits
  • Managing the day-to-day responsibilities including report generation, data entry, cost coding, ledger entry, reconciliation and trouble shooting

About You

  • Tertiary accounting qualifications and professional membership (CA or CPA)
  • Experience in a similar Financial Controller position within a large business (ideally 5+ years experience)
  • Strong commercial acumen to ensure data-informed decision making
  • Ability to prioritise and multi-task
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
  • Ability to identify basic cause and effect relationships with strong analytical skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-starter with demonstrated ability to work autonomously as well as within a team environment
  • Energetic, passionate and enthusiastic with a demonstrated focus on system improvement
