Support Young People Experiencing Family Violence & Homelessness

Are you an experienced practitioner passionate about supporting young people impacted by family violence and housing instability? Meli is seeking a Senior Youth Family Violence Caseworker to provide intensive case management, assertive outreach, and specialist knowledge to strengthen responses for young people and their families.

About the Role

As the Senior Youth Family Violence Caseworker, you will:

  • Actively engage with young people and their families through assertive outreach
  • Complete holistic needs assessments with a focus on family violence and sustainable housing
  • Build responsive care teams and develop tailored care plans (e.g., mental health, AOD, safety planning)
  • Deliver strength-based interventions that encourage connection, capacity building, and positive behaviour change
  • Provide secondary consultation and support across the Youth Services team
  • Lead practice development sessions and contribute to service improvements
  • Maintain strong, collaborative relationships with internal teams and external services like Police, Courts, and The Orange Door
  • Keep accurate, high-quality case notes and records, aligned with compliance and reporting standards

  • Fixed-term position until 1 June 2026
  • 1 FTE working 38 hours per week
  • Salary: $106,644 p/a + Super + Salary Packaging

What We're Looking For

We value individuals who bring dedication, empathy, and expertise to their roles. To succeed in this position, you will have:

  • Bachelor degree or postgraduate qualification in Social Work, Psychology, or related behavioural science, Criminology, or a related discipline
  • Experience in the family violence field, demonstrated particularly in provision of case management, crisis intervention, and/or therapeutic interventions for women and children
  • Willing to undertake further training to achieve Mandatory Minimum Qualifications, or meet the Mandatory Minimum Qualifications for Family Violence Practitioners by meeting one of the following:
    • Have been employed in the specialist family violence workforce before 1 July 2021 with continuous service (no break longer than 4 years), or
    • Bring significant cultural knowledge or lived experience and are working towards a Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent, or
    • Hold at least 5 years of relevant professional experience or a related qualification and are working towards a Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent
