Overview

The Australian Financial Review is looking for a highly skilled editor to oversee commissioning, editing and production of special reports, custom reports and advertising features. The successful candidate will have strong editorial instincts and a commitment to quality, ensuring all content is compelling and upholds journalistic standards. This is a 12-month contract opportunity.

Responsibilities
  • Liaise with commercial and editorial teams to determine special report topics and publication dates based on client objectives
  • Commission, edit, and oversee the production of special and custom reports, as well as advertising features
  • Ensure content is high-quality, compelling, and appeals to a digital audience
  • Collaborate with senior Financial Review journalists and editors to ensure content is newsworthy and aligns with the AFR's editorial stance
  • Manage communication with internal and external writers and production staff to ensure all special reports are delivered on time
Qualifications
  • Proven experience in journalism or a similar field
  • Print and online editing experience
  • An understanding of the key issues of interest to the AFR audience
  • Proven ability in project management and handling multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong understanding of editorial processes and print production
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to liaise with key internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience with INK editing platform is desirable
