Commissioning Editor Role

The Australian Financial Review is seeking a highly skilled editor to oversee the commissioning, editing and production of special reports, custom reports and advertising features.

This role offers the opportunity to create new reports that will build on the brand and deliver high-quality content for our audience.

Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with commercial and editorial teams to determine report topics and publication dates based on client objectives
  • Commission, edit and oversee the production of special and custom reports as well as advertising features
  • Ensure content is high-quality compelling and appeals to a digital audience
  • Collaborate with senior journalists and editors to ensure content is newsworthy and aligns with our editorial stance
  • Manage communication with internal and external writers and production staff to ensure all reports are delivered on time

Key Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in journalism or a similar field
  • Print and online editing experience
  • An understanding of key issues of interest to our audience
  • Proven ability in project management and handling multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong understanding of editorial processes and print production
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to liaise with key stakeholders
