About the opportunity

Westmead BTCT Laboratory is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Scientist to lead the national and internationally accredited Cellular Therapy laboratory that performs graft manipulations and cryopreservation of bone marrow, blood stem cells, cord blood, and other cellular therapies. What you'll be doing

Manage the laboratory to provide efficient and effective service, including operational management, compliance, financial planning and reporting, performance monitoring, risk management, human resources, and strategic planning.

  1. Tertiary qualifications of at least a Bachelor Degree in Science / Medical Laboratory Science, or an equivalent recognized qualification relevant to Medical Laboratory Science or relevant specialty.
  2. Proven leadership and operational management skills, including budget management, staff and resource management, and maintaining professional standards and accreditation within organizational frameworks.
  3. Experience with quality improvement and risk management, understanding relevant legislative and regulatory healthcare requirements.
  4. Experience in change management and using financial, statistical, human resources, and management data to improve laboratory efficiency.
  5. Strategic thinking and professional networks in a pathology specialty relevant to the laboratory; understanding the role of public laboratories within the Australian and NSW health systems.
  6. Advanced knowledge of Laboratory Information Systems, Microsoft Office, Quality Management Systems, and data analysis skills.
  7. Commitment to excellent customer service, with strong interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and influencing skills; ability to develop collaborative relationships with stakeholders.
