The Team: The Psychology team works across inpatient and outpatient settings and across all age ranges, utilising a broad range of clinical skills. The psychologist within the Metabolic team supports consumers in decisions for bariatric surgery, working with other psychologists and dietitians. All services collaborate to deliver excellence in healthcare and improve outcomes for consumers, the workforce, and the Tasmanian community.
The Role: The Metabolic Psychologist is part of the Allied Health led Metabolic clinic. A typical workday may include case discussions with Nutrition & Dietetics and other Psychologists, assessment of readiness for bariatric surgery, and individual or group interventions to support patients in decisions regarding their metabolic journey. The role may also work with people with complex chronic medical conditions, including diabetes, and offers opportunities to collaborate with a broad range of health practitioners.
The Metabolic psychologist is a valued member of the Hospitals North Allied Health Psychology Team. The psychology team is small but experienced, with a broad range of treatment modalities. Details of appointment- Permanent part-time, day worker position, 38 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as we can onboard you. Hours are negotiable with the successful applicant.

Salary: $110,425 to $121,907 pro rata per annum. Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
Salary Packaging: Access to salary packaging for benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year, plus other eligible benefits.
Allowances: Access to allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available; some access is subject to qualifications or application to the personal upgrade scheme. Additional allowances may include:
- Professional Development Allowance up to $1,000 per annum

Eligibility and requirements- Tertiary qualification/program approved by the Psychology Board of Australia
- Registered with the Psychology Board of Australia
Where required for a particular role: Area of Practice Endorsement such as Clinical Psychology, Clinical Neuropsychology, Counselling Psychology, Health Psychology, etc. Registration/licences must remain current; status may be checked during employment. It is the employee's responsibility to maintain registration/licences and to notify the Employer if circumstances change.
Desirable criteria:
- Significant professional experience in complex medical environments providing psychological services for patients with metabolic/bariatric needs
- Endorsement by the Psychology Board of Australia as Health Psychologist, Clinical Psychologist, or Clinical Neuropsychologist
- Postgraduate degree in Health Psychology, Clinical Psychology or Clinical Neuropsychology
