The Alcohol and Drug Service (ADS) is a statewide service providing care to clients accessing treatment for Alcohol, Tobacco and other Drugs in Tasmania. The ADS operates within a Multidisciplinary Team and trauma informed framework. All of our services work closely together to deliver excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce, and the Tasmanian community.

The Role:

As a member of the Alcohol and Drug Service (ADS), the Clinical Nurse Educator will provide leadership, specialist advice and strategic planning in the development, implementation and evaluation of strategic workforce, education and training initiatives within the ADS and more broadly across the ATOD sector. This is a statewide role and can be based in the North, Northwest or South of the state and will involve regular intrastate travel.

You will need:

Specialist knowledge, extensive experience and a comprehensive understanding of contemporary evidence and clinical practice as it relates to the alcohol, tobacco and other drugs field.

Sound knowledge of adult learning principles, health and professional development issues and their impact on the knowledge and skill requirements of the nursing workforce.

Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective partnerships and strategic networks for the development of integrated education programs for workers in the alcohol, tobacco and other drug services field.

Details of appointment:

Permanent, full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing from 22 September.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $114,851 to $121,886 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type

Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

  • Current Drivers Licence.
  • A minimum of two years' experience in the alcohol, tobacco and other drug (ATOD) sector or similar role (clinical and/or education/development).
  • Holds or is working towards a relevant tertiary qualification in ATOD field and/or education/training and assessment.
