About the role
- As a Risk Adviser in the Government Sector Practice you play a critical role delivering insurable risk advice to Victorian Public Sector clients, so that they're not unconsciously uninsured. You are accountable for ensuring that clients have the right insurance arrangements in place and are actively supported to reduce their risk exposure and the impact of claims.
- You are a key member of the Government Sector Practice team and work in close partnership with colleagues across VMIA to deliver tailored risk and underwriting advice , staying ahead of emerging risks, and identifying opportunities for clients to reduce the cost of insurable risk so as they can maximise their insurance arrangements.
- Your role reports to the Manager, Insurable Risk Advisory Team within the Government Sector Practice and will also coordinate with peers across VMIA to develop service plans and maintain a comprehensive view of each client's needs
Key responsibilities
- Deliver end-to-end insurable risk advisory services, from needs analysis to solution implementation and monitoring.
- Lead client relationship manager for allocated clients ensuring responsive, proactive engagement that supports risk management and resilience.
- Build and develop relationships internally and deliver strategic advisory services to clients.
- Adhere to quality assurance frameworks and continuously seek opportunities to improve service efficiency and consistency, lead the strategic client services programs
- Develop and deliver client engagement plans, monitoring reports on progress.
- Work closely with VMIA's Insurance Product Centre and other VMIA teams to ensure optimal risk transfer arrangements are in place for clients' and appropriate underwriting and pricing decisions are made.

What we are looking for
- 5 years of experience in insurance and/or client relationship management.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders and influence decisions.
- Strong collaboration skills and experience working in team-based environments.
- Ability to support the design and delivery of insurance products and contribute to improvements.
- Experience in insurance product development, underwriting, or strategic insurance advisory.
- Experience working with or advising public sector clients, particularly within the Victorian Government context. (Desirable)
- Understanding of public sector complexity and its operating environment. (Desirable)
Qualifications
- Certified member of the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF) or equivalent.
- Tertiary qualification in Business, Law, Insurance, Risk Management, Actuarial or related field. (Desirable)
- Fit and proper person under APRA guidelines.
